Absolute Batman
Snyder / Dragotta

Issue #001 · A comic shop by French Leshietski
Black Signal is a comic shop built the Absolute way — from scratch, by hand, out of a garage-door storefront on Kane Avenue. New books every Wednesday, a pull list that never forgets you, and a back-issue vault worth the dig.
The premise
When the Absolute line stripped Batman down to a working-class kid with a grudge and an axe, French Leshietski saw his own shop in it. No investors, no franchise. Just a borrowed truck, eleven longboxes, and a list of forty regulars who followed him from the flea market.
Black Signal is what grew out of that. Floppies racked face-out, every week. Keys priced honestly. Staff who have read the book they're recommending. And a back room where the lights stay red and the Wednesday crowd stays late.

The pull list, in three hits
Series, creators, variants, even “anything with Dragotta art.” Two minutes, online or at the counter.
Bagged, boarded, waiting under your name. Never miss a printing, never fight the rack.
Pay at pickup, 10–20% off cover depending on your tier. Hold up to 30 days.

The back room
Over 14,000 back issues, sorted, priced and searchable at the counter. Dollar bins up front, Bronze Age in the middle, slabbed keys behind the glass. French grades everything himself and writes the condition on the bag.

Behind the counter
“Bruce in the Absolute books doesn't have a butler or a billion dollars. He has his neighbourhood. That's the whole business plan here.”
French started selling comics out of a folding table at the Sunday market at nineteen. Twelve years, two flooded basements and one very understanding landlord later, Black Signal opened its red door. He still works every Wednesday, still bags the pull boxes himself, and still argues about Year One versus Long Halloween with anyone who walks in.

Doors 23:30 Tuesday for the next Absolute Batman drop. Free bag & board.
This month: Batman: Year One. 19:00, back room, bring an opinion.
French buys and appraises, 12:00–16:00. No appointment needed.
From the regulars
French held a 1:25 Dragotta variant for me for six weeks without asking. That's the whole review.
Walked in asking for “something like Absolute Batman.” Walked out with Scalped and Criminal and no regrets.
Sold him my dad's '80s Detective run. Fairest offer in three shops, and he told me which ones to keep.
